I'm Suzanne Mayer, a registered nurse with over 30 years of experience in acute and critical care. Throughout my career, I noticed a pressing need for solutions to prevent pressure injuries in at-risk patients, leading me to develop a new patent-pending product: Cloud9 Care.

When patients remain in the same position for extended periods, they are at high risk of developing pressure injuries, commonly known as bedsores. One of the biggest challenges caregivers face is the tendency for pillows and repositioning inserts to easily dislodge during care.

Cloud9 Care is designed with both patient and caregivers in mind. It consists of a unique double-layer sheet, both layers featuring low friction and moisture-wicking properties. The top layer is strategically stitched to the bottom layer, creating pockets that securely hold pillows, wedges, or other inserts in place.

To further minimize friction and shear, the bottom layer includes an adjustable elastic bungee cord, accommodating various mattress depths. Cloud9 Care is available currently for twin-size mattress, but can be specially ordered for other requests (queen, king, OR table).

This last June, I was asked to share my innovative journey at the ThinCk Conference in Boston where myself and 4 other innovators shared our journeys with over a hundred nurses and medical professionals from around the globe. I was also accepted to pitch at National Nurses in Business Conference’s “Shark Tank” end of July. Finally, I have been invited to participate in NurseApproved Organization to have a booth at HLTH in October.

In summary, Cloud9 Care aims to assist caregivers in providing comfort while helping to prevent painful, costly, and often preventable pressure injuries in at-risk patients.
